What is United Premier Platinum？
United Premier Platinum is an elite tier in the United MileagePlus frequent flyer program, offering elevated travel privileges for frequent flyers. Premier Platinum is the second-highest published status level. Members enjoy a wide range of benefits. While the tier grants Star Alliance Gold status, Premier Platinum also provides additional exclusive perks. For example, members are eligible for complimentary upgrades to premium cabins on qualifying flights, free Economy Plus seat selection at booking, priority check-in and boarding, increased baggage allowance, 9x award miles on United-operated flights, waived change fees on select tickets, and Star Alliance Gold benefits when traveling with partner airlines worldwide.
What are PlusPoints?
PlusPoints are a flexible upgrade currency introduced for Premier Platinum members. Once you reach Premier Platinum status, you will receive 40 PlusPoints, which can be used for upgrades and other eligible redemption options. The number of PlusPoints required for an upgrade depends primarily on the type of upgrade you are requesting and the route you are flying.

How to earn United Premier Platinum status?
MileagePlus United Premier Platinum members must earn 15,000 PQP and complete 45 PQF within a calendar year, or earn 18,000 PQP. In addition, you must fly at least four segments operated by United Airlines or United Express to meet the minimum flight requirement.
How Do You Earn PQF and PQP with United?
Premier Qualifying Flights (PQF) are based on the number of flight segments you take on United Airlines, United Express, or eligible partner airlines. Each segment counts separately—so a one-way trip with a connection earns 2 PQF, while a nonstop flight earns 1 PQF.
Premier Qualifying Points (PQP) are primarily based on the price of your ticket (base fare plus carrier-imposed surcharges), as well as certain eligible paid upgrades.
Importantly, you can earn PQF and PQP not only on paid tickets, but also on MileagePlus award flights. Each flight segment earns 1 PQF, and you’ll earn 1 PQP for every 100 miles redeemed. For example, redeeming 10,000 MileagePlus miles for a flight would earn you 100 PQP.

To retain your Premier Platinum status through January 2026, you must, within the 120-day period, fly 15 PQF (Premier Qualifying Flights) on flights operated by United Airlines or United Express and earn 5,000 PQP (Premier Qualifying Points).
Once the required PQF and PQP standards are met, you will be awarded 20 Plus points. These points will be added to your account within 7 to 10 working days.

Please review the following eligibility requirements before making a purchase:
- You have not participated in the MileagePlus® Status Match program or received a Premier Status Exception within the past 5 years.

An activation flight is defined as a flight operated by United Airlines or United Express®, taken within 90 days after we submit your eligibility documentation and the flight is posted to your MileagePlus account.
